The Shuōwén Seal form of 作 zuò ‘arise/make’ combines ​亻(​人 rén) ‘person’, and ​乍(​𠆦) zhà (phonosemantic); formerly wr. ​乍, and also ​迮 cf. ​乍.
    Note: SW glosses both 作 and ​迮 with ​起 qǐ ‘rise/raise/stir/start up’ (​起​来); the primary meaning 作 zuò ‘make/made; create; write/written’ is evident in SW usage in the glosses of other characters.
