The Shuōwén Seal form of 加 jiā ‘exaggerate’ adds 力 (lì) ‘strength/force’, to 口 (kǒu) ‘mouth/speech’: to forcefully assert/exaggerate (unjustly frame sb.), brag/boast, overstate/lie, commend, speak more than the truth (embellish).
