    HDZ: 興 : xīng : ; ; ; , ; , ; ; , ; ; ; ; ; , ; () (, (, ); , ); () • xìng : ; ; (); , ; , • xìn : /: (, ; )
(Explanation from the entry for the simple form :) The simple-form character (6 strokes) is an abbrev. of the full-form character 興 (16 strokes), replacing the full-form component (13 strokes) with (3 strokes).
Note: In the simple form , the complex top parts of the full form 興 are abbrev. to just 3 strokes (leaving sth. like / over ), as in / jǔ (see below).
The Shuōwén Seal form of /興(􀝴𢍯) xīng ‘rise/raise up; be aroused’ combines (􀝮𦥠) yú ‘(two people) raise/lift up’, and (􁒬) tóng ‘together’ (as in ‘cooperate’): when people cooperate in doing sth. difficult, in lifting up sth. heavy (as a sacrificial bronze vessel/offering), in working together toward accomplishing a common goal/success, there is a joyous shared result (; ).
Note: The character 興 is also assoc. with anc. (􀞀) xìn ‘blood sacrifice/offering’ (HDZ), cf. /.
“ hands lifting with joint effort ... (xīng) lift, raise, rise, begin, originate; prosper; raise or rise in rank; ... (xìng) high spirits, elation, joy, joyful; desire, passion” —Karlgren(AD).
    Compare: (􁒬) tóng ‘together’ (a lidded vessel); (􀝽) cuàn ‘prepare/cook (delicious/happy) meals’.
Compare: (􀝲𦥸􂠀) yǔ ‘give/share’; /(􂆨) jǔ ‘lift/raise up in the hands’.
    Compare: (􀝨𠔏) gòng ‘offer (respectfully/respects), shared/together’.
    Compare: /(􀞀) xìn ‘blood sacrifice/offering; conflict/dispute’, formerly wr. 興.
