The Shuōwén Seal form of 友(​㕛) yǒu ‘good friends’ (help-mates, going hand-in-hand) doubles ​又 yòu ‘(strong) right hand’ (phonosemantic); formerly wr. ​𦫹, and ​𦐯.
    Note: The MC rhymes differ (SBGY), and in SW the component ​又 yòu is not explicitly identified as phonetic in 友 yǒu, but some reconstruct ​又/友 as OC homophones (GSR).
