The Shuōwén Seal form of 多(𡖇) duō ‘many/much’ doubles 夕 xī ‘crescent moon’: here 夕 ‘moon’ represents any doubled thing, as 月 in 有(𪠥) yǒu ‘have’ represents any abstract object.
    Note: Under 多 duō ‘many/much’ SW glosses 夕 xī ‘crescent moon’ with 繹 yì ‘analyze; continuously’ (cf. 析 xī as in 分析 ‘analyze’): continuously, month after month (多久).
    Compare: 叠/疊(㬪) dié ‘pile up, repeat’, in which 晶 represents ‘day after day’ (日 rì ‘sun/day’); for 夕/多 in the lower part of 叠/疊(㬪), cf. 宜(宐𡪀𡨆).
