The character 经/經 jīng ‘warp (of a loom)’ combines 纟/糸 (sī) ‘silk/thread’, and 𢀖/巠 jīng ‘(liquid/thread) channel’ (phonosemantic); formerly wr. 巠, cf. 𢀖.
    Note: 𢀖/巠 is sometimes said to be an old wr. of 经/經 jīng ‘warp (threads); channel/through; blood vessels’, depicting warp threads on a loom (through which the weft passes).
    Note: In weaving, warp threads are strung out in parallel on the loom, stretched tight, alternately warped by the heddle, and the shuttle passes the weft threads through them.
