(Explanation from the entry for the simple form 运:) The simple-form character 运 (7 strokes) is an old form (of 𧼐/䞫 yǔn), today re-used as abbrev. of the full-form character 運 (12 strokes), replacing the full-form component 軍 (9 strokes) with 云 (4 strokes).
    The Shuōwén Seal form of 運(􀓁𨔪) yùn ‘move; turn; transport’ (移徙) combines 辶(辵 chuò) ‘go’, and 軍(􂡴𠣞) jūn ‘army/troops’ (phonosemantic).
    Note: In the modern simple form 运 the full-form phonetic 軍 jūn is wr. 云 yún (phonetic), not 军.
    Note: The standard simple form is not 運󰀃(⿺辶军), even though the standard simple form of 軍 is 军.
