The simple-form character 电 (5 strokes) is an abbrev. of the full-form character 電 (13 strokes), omitting the upper full-form component 雨 (8 strokes), and lengthening the top of the last stroke 乚 (as in old forms).
The full-form character 電 (13 strokes) is itself an abbrev. of old forms such as 𩃓 (16 strokes), replacing the old component 𦥔 (8 strokes) with 申 (5 strokes).
