The simple-form character 类 (9 strokes) is an abbrev. of the full-form character 類 (19 strokes), omitting the right-side full-form component 頁 (9 strokes), and changing the lower-left full-form part 犬 (4 strokes) to 大 (3 strokes).
The full-form character 類, later also wr. 𩔖⿰类頁, was formerly wr. 頪.
