The Shuōwén Seal form of 兴/興(𢍯) xīng ‘rise/raise up; be aroused’ combines 舁(𦥠) yú ‘(two people) raise/lift up’, and 同 tóng ‘together’ (as in 同力 ‘cooperate’): when people cooperate in doing sth. difficult, in lifting up sth. heavy (as a sacrificial vessel/offering), in working together toward accomplishing a common goal/success, there is a joyous shared result (同事功; 共同出力).
    Note: The character 興 is also assoc. with anc. 釁 xìn ‘blood sacrifice’ (HDZ); cf. 衅/釁.
    In the simple form 兴 (6 strokes), the complex top parts (first 13 strokes) of the full form 興 (16 strokes) are abbrev. to just 3 strokes (leaving sth. like 小 over 丌).
