Dubious gloss
Per email on the lexicography@wenlin.info list, "穴居沙龟" may be wrong for "gopher".
So, our E-C entry for “gopher” needs revision.
“地鼠” has been suggested, but doesn’t necessarily mean “gopher”. Per https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BB%93%E9%BC%A0 , “倉鼠，又名地鼠” and the picture looks like a hamster to me.
Per https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E5%9C%B0%E9%BC%A0/79284 , “地鼠（又名仓鼠），属哺乳纲，啮齿目，仓鼠科，帛鼠亚科。分布于亚洲和欧洲大陆的广大温带地区。它是由野生动物驯养后进入实验室的动物，用于实验研究的有8种，目前作为实验动物的主要有两种：金黄地鼠( Golden hamster, Mesocricetus auratus)和中国地鼠( Chinese hamster, Cricetulus griseus)。”
Per https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E5%9B%8A%E5%9C%B0%E9%BC%A0/7633156 , “囊地鼠” means “gopher”.
Currently we lack C-E entries for “地鼠”, “穴居沙龟”, and “囊地鼠”; and we lack an E-C entry for “gopher tortoise”.
Let’s find some authoritative references, or a bilingual zoologist!
