From Wenlin Dictionaries

The reference for this entry is "vfe800b9", i.e. the Far East dictionary. My copy of it says "1. to grow 2. interest (from money)". So it appears that the 2nd gloss was copied into ABC, and the first gloss was paraphrased as "bear interest". However, I believe the paraphrasing was based on a misunderstanding of what "grow" means here. Grand Ricci says "se multiplier; se reproduire". LAC says 〈書〉生長繁殖。 The following Baike webpage says 繁殖;增生。, and the example sentences are not about bearing interest. [1]
