Are the four characters really the same thing?

I stumbled across this entry and was surprised to find four characters combined into one entry, especially since they seem to have some different meanings. The entry for 晏 even says "Don’t confuse 晏 yàn with 宴 yàn (as in 宴会 yànhuì banquet). Since both 晏 yàn and 宴 yàn have “ease and comfort” as one of their meanings, some confusion seems to have taken place already." The other two characters seem to be variants of swallow.
