I think defining 缺失 as "1. hiatus 2. deficiency" is like defining 動物 as "1. buffalo 2. animal". That is, it gives a rarely-applicable hyponym as the first sense, and a usually-applicable synonym as the 2nd sense. (缺失 means "a deficiency" in general, whereas "hiatus" is specifically a gap in a *sequence*.)
"hiatus" comes from Wu (ref vwu2096a1). Presumably it's the first sense in ABC because it's the first gloss in Wu, but it's not a sense I've seen mentioned in other dictionaries, let alone as the first sense.
It might be a good idea to delete "hiatus" from the definition of 缺失 – or perhaps make it a subsense of "deficiency" rather than putting it at the head of the definition as a separate sense. Richwarm (talk) 22:53, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
