"optative" means "expressive of wish or desire".

"volitive" means "of or relating to the will".

But as the "能" in "能愿动词" suggests, 能愿动词 refers to a broader range of verbs than just those that are optative or volitive: 得, for example, and 能, 敢, 應該 etc. are all considered 能愿动词. [1] [2] Richwarm (talk) 22:55, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
