The Shuōwén Seal form of 眉(睂) méi | The Shuōwén Seal form of 眉(睂) méi ‘eyebrow/brow’ combines 目() mù ‘eye’ with strokes above depicting a 𠃜() ‘furrowed brow’ (皱眉), the lines/wrinkles of the brow/forehead (and eyebrow hair) above the eye/socket. | ||
Note: The SW gloss is 眉 ‘hair above the eye’, but the upper part 𠃜() is said to depict the lines/wrinkles of the forehead (上象額理). | |||
