The simple-form character 竖 (9 strokes) is an abbrev. of the full-form character 豎 (15 strokes), replacing the upper-left full-form component 臣 (6 strokes) with  (2 strokes), and the lower full-form component 豆 (7 strokes) with 立 (5 strokes); the top is abbrev. as in 坚/堅.
