The Shuōwén Seal form of 示(􀀐) shì ‘heavenly bodies’ combines the old form of 𠄞(􀀆􀀇丄上) shàng ‘up/above; sky/heaven’, with a shape like 小 (three lines/rays hanging down, one for each of 日 ‘sun’, 月 ‘moon’, 曐/星 ‘stars’); formerly wr. 𡭕(􀀑𥘅), with a single line above (as in 天 and 雨), and with the three lines descending, like a 气(􀃳) gust of wind, or 巛(􁾗) river of rain.
