-The character 顺/順(􁠭) shùn ‘reasonable’ combines 川(􁾗巛) chuān ‘river’, and 页(頁) yè ‘head/mind’; Shuōwén explains it as 理 lǐ (as in 顺理 ‘reasonable’), thoughts in the head/mind flowing smoothly (as a river following its course, flowing steadily in its banks).
