The Shuōwén Seal form of 巾(􁓭) jīn ‘handkerchief/cloth/towel’ depicts 𠘨(􁒧) a handkerchief (or a towel, absorbent cloth for wiping the hands, face or body, polishing/dusting/wiping cloth) hanging from a 丨(􀃻) ‘line/tie/belt’ (hanging at the waist, or perhaps hung out to dry).
