+The Shuōwén Seal form of 疋(􀗠) shū ‘lower leg (calf, shin, ankle, foot)’ is said to be derived from 足(􀖉) zú ‘foot’ (the curved top stroke 乛 in 疋 depicts the ‘calf muscle’, written 口 in 足; cf. 足); 疋 is also an old writing (phonetic) of 疏 shū ‘intersperse (comments)’;  for the reading 疋 pǐ, cf. 𤴓(􂎃匹).
