From 车(車 chē) ‘car’ and 畐 fú phonetic.
The character 辐/輻(􂡡) fú ‘spokes’ combines 车/車 (chē) ‘cart’, and 畐(􀺅畗) fú (phonosemantic).
The spokes of a wheel radiate out from the center of the wheel. Hence the extended meaning ‘radiation’.
Note: In 畐 the bottom 田 suggests a wheel with spokes, and the top part 𠮛 an exploded view of 一 one spoke over 口 the felloe.
Compare: 辋/輞 wǎng ‘felloe’; 轮/輪(􂡙) lún ‘spoked wheel’; 辁/輇(􂢎) lún ‘spoke-less wheel’.
